Current Openings
We're always listening for the right fit.
We don't always have formal openings listed, but we are always interested in hearing from strong clinicians. If you're licensed — or actively working toward licensure — and our practice feels like the right environment, reach out. The right person creates an opening.
How to apply: Send an email to aaron@discovercounseling.com with a brief introduction and your clinical background. Aaron reads and responds to every message personally.
We serve clients in person at our Tigard office and via telehealth. We hire licensed clinicians statewide — if you're licensed in Oregon and prefer a fully remote caseload, we can make that work.
What We Look For
Credentials and character.
We consider licensed clinicians and associates across multiple disciplines. What matters more than the specific credential is the kind of clinician you are — and the kind of practice environment you're looking for.
Credentials we consider
- LPC or LPCA — Licensed Professional Counselors and Associates in Oregon
- LMFT or LMFTA — Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists and Associates in Oregon
- LCSW or CSWA — Licensed Clinical Social Workers and Clinical Social Work Associates in Oregon
- Graduate interns — Master's-level students completing practicum or internship hours. See our internship page →
What we're really looking for
-
Self-motivation Clinicians who own their schedule, manage their caseload independently, and don't need close oversight to do excellent work. We give you autonomy — we expect you to use it well.
-
A growth orientation You're actively investing in your own development — not just collecting hours or maintaining the status quo. You read, seek feedback, and get better on purpose.
-
High clinical standards You hold yourself to a high bar. You care about doing excellent work — not just adequate work — and that standard is something you bring to every session.
-
Collaborative spirit You want to be part of a team, not just renting a slot. You engage with peers, bring your perspective, and contribute to the culture of the practice.
-
Values alignment Warmth, rigor, and genuine care for clients. We take the work — and each other — seriously.
What We Offer
A practice built for clinicians who take it seriously.
- Commission-based compensation model with strong earning potential
- Built-in clinical supervision for associates and interns — individual and group
- A dedicated admin team that handles insurance verifications, billing, payroll, and scheduling so you can focus on providing therapy
- SimplePractice EHR — scheduling, notes, and billing all in one place
- Established referral pipeline and consistent client flow
- Flexible scheduling with a genuine work-life balance culture — not just a talking point
- A collaborative team of experienced clinicians who engage with each other
- In-person in Tigard or fully telehealth — we hire licensed clinicians statewide across Oregon
About the Practice
Who we are.
Discover Counseling was founded in 2007 by Aaron Potratz, LPC. We are a team of 11 clinicians — licensed therapists, associates, and graduate interns — serving individuals, couples, children and adolescents, and families in Tigard and across Oregon via telehealth.
We take the culture of our practice seriously. Clinicians here have autonomy over their caseloads, genuine flexibility, and a leadership team that treats them like professionals — because they are.
