About Sharon: As a Marriage and Family Therapist, I believe that relationships have the power to hurt and to heal. We long for deep connections with other people, yet these connections also make us feel exposed and vulnerable. Anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and hopelessness can all impact the trajectory of our individual well-being, and therefore affects the quality of our relationships as well. Sometimes, harm caused through relationships with others can cause those same feelings and lead to isolation or a sense of worthlessness.
My desire is to create a caring and safe environment for you to work through whatever challenges you may be having, so that you may find health and purpose as an individual, as well as peace and harmony in your relationships as well. Whether you choose to come to counseling by yourself or with an important person in your life, we will explore the patterns that keep you stuck in your pain. We will also work on finding your purpose and on developing deep, caring relationships with others, so that you can continue moving toward your goals into the bright future.
My Approach: I use an approach that is personalized to each person’s needs and desires, and we will work collaboratively to make and reach your goals. Integrating your faith and spiritual beliefs to support your purpose and healing is also an important part of my work. Overall, my hope is to help you find relief from the problems and struggles that are bringing you to therapy, in the format that best meets your needs.
- In my work with children, I use play therapy and parent coaching, involving families when possible to create lasting change for the child. Through family therapy, I focus on increasing positive attachment and finding solutions to family problems.
- With teens and adults, I enjoy using collaborative problem solving and mindfulness interventions, with a focus on thoughts and feelings and how they impact behaviors (cognitive-behavioral therapy). I also love working with couples in premarital or marriage therapy, where I use Gottman Method Couples Therapy in my work.
My Background: I grew up in Tigard and absolutely love living in the Northwest. I have received specialized training in play therapy for work with children, and have completed Level 1 Training in Gottman Methods Couples Therapy. My experiences include working in intensive in-home therapy for children and teens in crisis situations, in-home skills training with children and teens, and in outpatient therapy settings. Currently, I work with children, teenagers, and adults and enjoy working with a variety of struggles and concerns, including depression, anxiety, social anxiety, and trauma.
My specialties include:
- Anxiety or Stress
- Behavioral issues (children)
- Emotional Regulation
- Life Transitions

- Play therapy for kids
- Relationship issues
- Social Anxiety
- Spiritual issues
